Basic Search Training, Saturday, August 28th
BCK9SAR hosted its third annual Basic Search Training or Ground Pounders class on Saturday, August 28th at the Swiftel Center in
Brookings. We were unable to do Mounted SAR this year but hope to get back into it again next year. This year we focused on many
things...from left to right, Danna, Kyle Hoeke and Tim Lemke brushing up on map and compass skills, Sandy teaching different ways
of searching and Eric teaching communications.
From left to right: Kyle Hoeke from the Bruce Fire Department practices tracking footprints, clue awareness was practiced with the
entire group and Deputy Gibson from the Brookings County Sheriff's Department covers crime scene preservation.
From left to right: Karen, Jodi and Sue work on map and compass skills, Wayne White from the Canistota Fire Department and
Karen working the compass course, Rowdy doing cadaver odor indication and Shadow and Sandy returning from an area search.
From left to right: Eric and Eve working a trail, Sue and Bailey finding Karen and Sue sending Lucy off on an area search.
