The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When our beloved pets die, they journey to this idyllic spot. There are
meadows and hills enough for all to frolic freely, and plenty of food, water and sunshine. Each and every animal is warm and
comfortable.

Those pets who have been ill or aged are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong.
Each is just as we remember in our dreams of days and times gone by. Our pets are happy and content at Rainbow Bridge, except for
one small thing. Every creature misses someone special whom they've left behind.

The animals all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops, and looks into the distance. His or her bright eyes
are intent; an eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he or she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, legs going
faster and faster. You have been spotted, and you and your special friend come together in joyous reunion. Happy kisses rain upon your
face; your hands again caress the beloved head; and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet so long gone from your life,
but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Casey was truly a remarkable hunter. In fact she was the subject of a search and
rescue-her own. When she was retrieving a duck in a slew by Hwy 14, she became
lost and was gone for over 12 hrs. Friends of ours (they had Casey's father) got in
their airplane and did an air search while 4 wheelers were doing the ground pounding.
But a yellow lab in cattails and corn just seems to blend in and the wind was muffling
any calls that were being made. She managed to return to the farm we were hunting
from, muddy, tired but very happy to see us.

Casey had 1 littler of puppies; 7 males. Like the qualities of a Labrador Retriever,
Casey was very tolerant of kids and enjoyed being with them. She was almost 14
years old when cancer and a stroke took her life. She is tremendously missed but has
left a wonderful lifetime of memories. She is now waiting on the other side of the
Rainbow Bridge.

SAR Prayer

Dearest Lord;
Help us to always be
prepared, diligent, alert and
strong.
Help us train and work our
dogs to their highest potential
and let us not fail them when
we are called to serve.
Help us exceed our goals and
to serve as a beacon to others.

Protect us always, lift us up
when we need you the most
and walk with us always;
keeping us safe.

Amen.
